A large winter storm caused the power and heat to go out at our house for a few days so we booked a room at this hotel. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room was nice. The shower was fantastic. One of the front desk workers, I believe their name was Gem, was especially helpful.

What a wonderful stay. The room was clean and beautiful. Great location! The staff was so welcoming. I had a wonderful dinner at the Craft PDX. Aron was my server and he was so helpful. He recommended the apple beignet dessert. Delicious!! I am definitely coming back.

We had a fine/good experience in the hotel itself. The room was comfortable and quiet with blackout curtains. The room lacked certain finishing details that would have made it a more upscale hotel stay: the unfinished ceiling made of exposed (and dirty looking) concrete reminded us of a parking garage; the shower wand didn't quite stay in place after you turn the water on, etc. The downtown location was not pleasant when we visited. I kept thinking of Hamsterdam, the open air drug market neighborhood from season 3 of The Wire. Depending on your reasons for visiting Portland and how flexible you are, I recommend considering other neighborhoods.

The obvious: Yes, it's not in an ideal location, but you can't blame the hotel. It's no different here than in many other major metropolitan cities. The good: Everyone at the hotel (from front desk, concierges, bartender/waitresses, entry staff, cleaning team) is amazing, this made my stay quite enjoyable. Many great stores/indie businesses are in walking distance, as well as some of the best restaurants in the city. There's also a family-owned convenience store and great food truck options directly across from the hotel. The not-so-good: The hotel is in a heavy nightlife area. There is a lot of traffic (foot and car) all night long. My advice: plan for morning/afternoon activities only...and bring earplugs just in case! Overall, I would stay here again. I really enjoyed my first Autograph Collection hotel!
